About
My painting practice originates from a preoccupation with the residue of memory and place within the natural world. I believe that existing within any environment, whether anthropogenic or wild, leaves some form of trace. These residues are not illustrated literally; instead, they undergo a process of abstract reconfiguration. This shifts the focus from the descriptive to a purely painterly translation of form. Through physical gestures, the accumulation of layers followed by their deliberate removal, I try to summon the fleeting and permanent marks that human and non-human presences carve into the landscape.
My works do not seek to map a specific location but instead invite an emotional response. I hope they remain open to ambiguity, creating a space in which nature, artist and viewer are in conversation. In this way, each work becomes an archive of my experience of the landscape that inspires it—shaped by memory, movement and encounter, yet open to new interpretations. Traces not just seen, but felt.
